Oaks Hospital strengthen constituency link
Management and staff at Oaks Hospital in Colchester were
delighted to host a visit from MP Bob Russell on Thursday 21st July
2011.
Mr Russell, the town’s Lib-Dem MP, was there to find out more
about the part Oaks Hospital has in the Private Hospitals Alliance
(PHA). During the visit, Oaks' General Manager Ian Milne
explained to Mr Russell how the Oaks complements local NHS services
in delivering a wide range of elective procedures.
Ian Milne GM said “My team have worked in conjunction with the
North East Essex and other PCTs to offer a wide range of services
that complement and offer essential additional capacity to patients
in the Essex and Suffolk catchment area. Our commitment to work in
conjunction with the NHS is benefiting a large amount of local
patients and in the next 12 months this is likely to grow further
with over 3000 procedures being performed under the new Standard
Acute Contract with our local PCTs”.
The visit also gave Mr Russell the opportunity to see progress
on the Oaks’ £4.2m expansion programme. Ian Milne explained how the
investment will improve local private health care services.
“The expansion includes five new consulting/examination rooms as
well as an additional minor operations room and a fourth theatre to
deal with the rise in the number of in-patients being treated. A
new 11-bed Ambulatory unit, to help with an ever growing day case
volume is also part of the programme. A state-of-the-art
Physiotherapy department with eight treatment rooms has already
been opened. With the expected number of patients looking to chose
the Oaks as their hospital of choice we have also added an
additional 22 car parking spaces to the already free car park”.
