Following the lifting of restrictions by the Government, we would like to reassure all our patients that the way we interact with you will not be changing. All staff and consultants will continue to wear face coverings and maintain social distancing, and we require our patients and visitors to do the same, so that we are all protected.

We chat to one of our new starters about her first year at Oaks Hospital

Lisa, fairly new to Oaks Hospital,  joined our Theatre Team in September 2018 as a full time ODP.

Lisa didn’t intend on working full time at Oaks Hospital, she only enquired for a bank position because she was happy in her post at another hospital but wanted to experience working in the private sector in her spare time.  There were no bank posts available at the time but took the opportunity to have a tour of Oaks Hospital and the Theatre Department and the rest, as we say, is history!

Lisa found the Theatre Department to be calm and liked the smooth running and teamwork that followed. Lisa enjoyed being able to give the patients one on one care that she prided herself on and also felt she was part of a great team, even being so new was welcomed like part of the family.

Lisa mentioned that new starter support at Oaks Hospital was second to none, and felt that the support she received in her early days a new member of the team in the Theatre Department helped her fit in and become part of a fantastic team very quickly.  Lisa was soon being offered lots of new opportunities to grow within her role such as ALS and outside of her role including Train the Trainer, Mandatory Training and Staff Appreciation Leader.  Lisa felt that she was being encouraged to pursue further training to become the best that she could be and to develop even higher in her ODP role by adding extra competencies to her growing achievements. While also challenging comraderies of the Multi-Disciplinary Team, Lisa feels that she has gained excellent working relationships with the Consultants and enjoys working alongside them at Oaks Hospital.

Oaks Hospital is delighted to have Lisa on-board, she is an incredible member of the team, and we wish her every success in her future with Ramsay Health Care!

If you are thinking about a new role, then come along to our recruitment open day on Saturday 7th September (between 10am - 3pm) and learn more about the hospital, the roles on offer and see our facilities first hand. For more information and to book your place please visit our event here.
