Visionaire Knee Replacements in Essex
The Oaks Hospital was the first in the Ramsay Group to start using specialist technology to aid the procedure of total knee replacement. Usually knee replacements are sized and measured during the operation. The bone cuts are made with reference to the inside and outside of the patient’s bones. Using the “Visionaire” system, preoperative calibrated MRI scans and x-rays are used to create a virtual 3 dimensional model of the individual knee. From this computer model single use patient specific guides are manufactured that will produce bone cuts at the correct site and orientation. The size of the replacement used is also known in advance.
Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon Mr Mark Loeffler performed Oaks’ first Visionaire knee replacement and his patient was delighted with the results:
“I had my first knee replaced five years ago with you, which was excellent, so I came back for the second (Visionaire) knee which has exceeded my expectations. If I had a third knee I would come straight back”.
