Physiotherapy Patient Information
If You Have Medical Insurance:
Oaks Hospital in Essex is recognised by all major insurance companies. If you have medical insurance, you must contact your insurer prior to your visit. Your insurer will advise you whether your policy will cover the cost of the treatment and the processes necessary for a claim to be paid.
Provided you have given Oaks Hospital relevant details of your insurance cover, hospital accounts will go direct to your insurer.
- BUPA patients: You must have a pre-authorisation number for physiotherapy, even if you have been receiving physiotherapy as an inpatient.
- Consumables eg walking aids, theraband, lumbar supports, heel pads, wrist splints etc. The cost of these is not covered by the Insurance Company; you will be expected to pay for these on attendance.
If You are Self-Paying or Uninsured:
We are pleased to provide physiotherapy services to patients paying their own fees. However, we do ask you to pay immediately after each treatment at the Physiotherapy reception desk before leaving. This can be settled using a debit or credit card, cheque or cash.
Please note if you receive reimbursement directly from your insurance, e.g. Benenden or HSA you should also pay at the time of treatment.
Your First Appointment
The initial assessment will take between 30 - 60 minutes, depending on the area being assessed. The Physiotherapist will assess and diagnose the problem and help you understand what is wrong. Much information is obtained by verbal questioning and physical examination. The Physiotherapist will work with you to develop an effective treatment plan that takes into account your life-style, leisure activities and general health.
